Brompton 2018 Model

Brompton 2018 model is now disclosed in Japanese market. The shops are releasing information about the specifications and new accessories.

Description of New 2018 Brompton

There is no big change in its specification but only small improvements/modification while 2017 model changed a lot.....

1. New Brake Calipers
Brompton Brake Caliper Dual Pivot (Front and Rear) will appear with new shape.

2. M/H and P type Tyre change to Schwalbe Marathon Racer. Possible termination of Brompton original tyres.

3. New color 
2018 Black Edition Brompton will have a new color, black lacquer, while Stardust Black will terminate. As long as I speculate, the new color is a bit similar to that color of Yoshi's original Brompton.

Other than black lacquer addition, Raw Lacquer changes to gloss type paint.

Accessories

C-BAG
Current Black, Lagoon Blue, Berry Crash to only two colors, Black and Lagoon Blue.

S-BAG
Current Lime Green, Lagoon Blue, Black will continue and two more kinds with Brompton designed cover will be added.

O-BAG
There will be two types, Reflective/black and Grey only. 

mini O-BAG
Only Black Reflective will be offered.

Saddle Bag Rucksack
A newly introduced bag for transportation. The new rucksack folds into a saddle bag to attach to the seat post when you start to ride Brompton.

Brompton Urban Challenge Adelaide 2017

On January 15 Sunday, there was a great Brompton event in Adelaide, the Brompton Urban Challenge, a scavenger hunting with Brompton in the city, uncovering clues and hints supplied and discovering all of those related to Adelaide and the Tour Down Under.

Heading to Treadly Bike Shop in the morning, we met lots of Bromptons there. 

We started the challenge ride. Owing to Helen and Kim, we strangers did not have any stray or disadvantage. We were the first groups to reach EcoCaddy, one of the most difficult check points to locate.

From the pinnacle of Adelaide, we were able to see a beautiful view with a backdrop of the Adelaide hills.

The last stop was a micro Brewery. We were well hydrated at this fuel station for the last ride to home.

Another Training for BWC 2016 London

BWC 2016, the most important annual event for Bromptoneers, is coming very soon. I am quite pleased that I can feel the excitement of that ride in full throttle on the Mall again.

Today I went through another training in both St. Kilda and Mt. Dandenong.

Starting the ride with S2L at Dockland for today's warming up.

Next, I moved onto St. Kilda Beach by Tram 109 then unfolded the bike to start for a 5 km ride to the pier with full throttle. 

Average speed recorded 26.8 km/h for the ride. Not that bad.

After lunch, I grabbed another Brompton, M3L with 44T chain ring, and got on Belgrave Line to Boronia Station. The section from Basin to Sassafras has 6.8 km to go and about 300 meters to ascend. I suppose this 30-minute enduring training is ideal for the race in London.

Reached Sassafras of Mt. Dandenong. The time was 31 minutes and 55 seconds and average speed was 12.75 km/h. Fair.

I will soon get a secret weapon from Cory for the race. When I install it to my S2L, I am ready to go.

Brompton World Championship Final

The 11th Brompton World Championship Final will take place as part of the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling on Saturday 30th July at 1915. This is the second time the race has been held in the capital, where the Brompton bike was invented and it still made today.

Last year’s event saw participants from over 20 nations taking part with a star-studded field including British cycling stars David Millar and Michael Hutchinson. Sportswear most definitely is not permitted with a strictly no Lycra rule. Competitors start the race with a Le Mans-style mad dash, unfolding their bikes before taking on the 16km circuit. Mark Emsley was last year’s Male winner storming to the finish in 00:26:45 and Isabel Hastie took the Women’s crown in 00:28:49.

Brompton Junction Tokyo

Last September, a new Brompton Junction flagship store has opened in Tokyo, the second Brompton showcase in Japan. The store is located in a fashionable but quiet street of Daikanyama, near Ebisu and Shibuya. 

There are more than a dozen of titanium models in the store. I have never seen that number of store stocked Ti-models in other places.

The photo was taken on the day when more than 30 Brompton lovers in Tokyo gathered and filled the store in the end of last year.

At the store Oi-san and Shiobara-san will take care of you and your Brompton.
